Your Chalet in Japan
The Retreat: A mountain escape in Niseko Village
Tucked into the snowy slopes of Central Hirafu in Niseko, Hokkaido, our private retreat chalet is a portal into Japan’s alpine beauty and quiet power. Here, crisp mountain air and views of Mount Yotei create a backdrop that grounds you from the moment you arrive. Whether you’re hitting the slopes or simply savoring the stillness, this is your space to reset.
Set within one of Niseko’s most exclusive estates, the chalet balances warmth and elegance. It features six spacious bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, central heating, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The expansive layout includes a cozy fireplace, private sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, entertainment room, and ski room for gear. Every corner is curated for comfort, so you can rest deeply and rise ready.
Your Space: Crafted for restoration and recalibration
Start your mornings with mountain light pouring through your window, and end the day stargazing on the balcony with the fire pit aglow. Between yoga sessions and snow-filled adventures, you’ll find time to unwind in the sauna, curl up in the media room, or share quiet conversations over tea in the chalet’s common spaces.
This chalet is where wellness and adventure meet in rhythm, a winter sanctuary for movement, nourishment, and clarity of mind.

Experience & Transformation
-
Breathe Japan is where movement becomes a language of trust between your breath, your body, and your will. Set against the snow-covered landscapes of northern Japan, this retreat combines snowboarding (or skiing), yoga, and cultural exploration to help you step into your physical and mental strength. Whether it's your first time on a board or your hundredth, this retreat is about pushing past fear, moving with power, and discovering what you're capable of; on the slopes and in life.
-
Not at all. While Breathe Japan is our most physically demanding retreat, it's also a chance to reframe what you believe you're capable of. You'll gain strategies for fueling your body with intention, managing performance anxiety, and moving with focus and clarity. The goal is to help you return home stronger, physically and mentally.
-
You'll receive four private sessions with a registered dietitian in the month leading up to the retreat. We've designed these 1:1 nutrition coaching sessions to help you prepare for the physical demands of travel, snowboarding (or skiing), and high-altitude activity. Whether you're looking to boost energy, improve recovery, or fine-tune your fueling strategy, you'll head into Japan feeling supported, aligned, and ready to move with power and intention.
-
Breathe Japan is an adventure for your taste buds, too. Think seasonal dishes, thoughtful presentation, and flavors that tell a story, not custom orders.
While we always aim to honor medical needs, we can’t promise substitutions or special accommodations on this retreat. Meals are often shared, prepared for the group, and may include traditional ingredients like raw fish or shellfish. If you have food allergies or follow a strict eating pattern, this retreat might not be the best fit.
Japanese dining culture encourages you to try a little of everything, even just a bite, as a sign of respect and gratitude. If you’re game for that kind of culinary adventure, you’ll be in good company. Still unsure? Reach out. We’re happy to talk it through.
Movement, boarding & Fitness
-
No, experience is not required. Whether you're stepping onto snow for the first time or brushing off old skills, we'll support you throughout the adventure. We’ve designed this retreat to help you move with confidence, challenge yourself at your own pace, and experience the joy that comes from trying something new. Lessons and beginner-friendly options are available; just bring an open mind and a warm pair of gloves.
-
Breathe Japan is best suited for guests with an intermediate to advanced fitness level due to the physical demands of snowboarding and the winter climate. You don't need to be an athlete, but a baseline of strength, balance, and stamina will help you get the most out of the experience. Mobility-focused yoga will help support your recovery.
-
Skiing is absolutely an option! While our group will be snowboarding, we can arrange ski rentals and lessons for those who prefer to ski. Let us know your preference when you book.
-
Each morning begins with yoga focused on mobility, recovery, and mind-body connection, building strength and self-trust from the inside out. Snowboarding (or skiing) is offered on select days, alongside optional adventures like snowmobiling or local excursions. Evenings are spacious, with time to rest, connect, or simply enjoy the stillness. Nutrition-focused wellness chats with a registered dietitian will help you prepare your body for the week and sustain your energy with intention.
Logistics & Inclusions
-
Breathe Japan unfolds in Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, celebrated for its pristine powder snow, dramatic mountain views, and immersive natural beauty. Our private chalet is in the heart of Niseko Village, an alpine haven where wellness meets world-class adventure. From sunrise views of Mount Yotei to stargazing by the fire pit, every moment is designed to ground you in presence.
-
Your experience includes elevated chalet accommodations, daily yoga, snowboarding (or skiing) access, guided cultural excursions, chef-prepared meals, and private group transportation throughout the week, including round-trip airport transfers. To help you prepare, you'll receive pre-retreat nutrition coaching from a registered dietitian, focused on fueling strategies to support your energy, recovery, and performance in the colder climate. We'll also assist with coordinating snow gear and equipment rentals so that you can arrive confident and fully supported.

You will fly into New Chitose Airport (CTS) in Hokkaido, Japan. From there, we'll arrange a private group transfer to our retreat chalet in Central Hirafu, Niseko Village, a scenic 2.5 to 3-hour drive through snow-dusted mountains and peaceful countryside.
We recommend wearing comfortable layers, packing water and snacks in your carry-on, and downloading a few playlists, audiobooks, or meditations to enjoy during the ride. It's a long journey, but it's a beautiful one, and the perfect transition into your winter wellness adventure.
Optional overnight in Sapporo:
For guests arriving a day early, we're exploring the option to spend the night in Sapporo before heading to Niseko. This travel break can help ease jet lag, give you a chance to explore the city, and ensure a more relaxed arrival. Details coming soon.
Booking & Who It's For
-
It's for both. If you're new to snowboarding, we have certified instructors ready to help. If you're more advanced, you'll love the terrain and freedom to explore. The focus isn't on skill level, it's on showing up, trying something new, and rising into your strongest self.
-
Not at all. Many of our guests join solo and end up forming meaningful bonds through shared challenges and support. The atmosphere is warm, encouraging, and growth-oriented.
-
Yes. Breathe Japan is open to both women and men who are looking to challenge themselves physically and mentally, reconnect with their bodies, and explore movement in a supportive and inspiring setting.
